- Um, Trumpet Telnet is great, except when it comes to certain cursor-movement
- based apps, such as the pico editor, Rogue :), ircII, and screen. I just seem
- to get junk. Maybe I'm using an older version, but it's getting annoying.
- Could somebody point me out a newer version or maybe something different?

- This ONLY seems to be happening with the PCTCP/IP Winsock v1.10
- (v1.1 WSA) from FTP software. At least the only people who have
- reported this are using that version. I'm not sure how to correct
- it as I can transfer at high rates between close systems with no
- problems using both Microsoft and Trumpet Winsock's. I don't have
- access to any others to test.
-
- Maybe????? its a PC-TCP problem??????

- What you have to do is put the following line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT:
-
- set QVTNET_DIR=[DRIVE:\][path of where your QVTNet is located on your HD]

- Subject: Finger Daemons
-
- Hello, My I'm a student at MIT, and have begun using LAN WP for Windows,
- and I have a question regarding finger daemons... Is there a finger daemon out
- there for DOS and Windows that is more powerful than the one that comes with
- the WorkPlace? I would like to have it so that it responds differently
- depending on which "user" you finger at my machine. For example
-
- finger steve@islander.mit.edu
- finger help@islander.mit.edu
-
- etc. If such a daemon exists, or is easy to write (I have many years of
- programming experience, but not with network software), I would appreciate any
- info regarding this topic.
-
- Thanks Alot!

- The Telnet client that comes as a part of QVTNET is the best around. I have
- not had any problems with its VT10x emulation and full screen applications yet.

-
- It's probably related to the load on your news server machine. Sometimes it
- can take awhile to get an article posted here too - but no where near three
- minutes. Are you accessing a far away NNTP server? Network traffic can cause
- delay too.

- You got it. There's a shareware version called Trumpet Winsock that's about to

- If a NFS server only would be good enough for you:
- You could try sossnt.zip or my version sossntr3.zip, they are ports from
- Dos to NT to NT with Win32API, but they are socket based. If you remove
- the security bits it might run nativly under Win32s.
- You still need Win32 SDK to modify it.
